Mesa View Golf Course

AZGA Golf Buzz: Mesa View Golf Course, quite literally, is the only game in town, in Bagdad, Arizona and it comes with no frills, as in, no head pro, no practice area, no dining facilities and no water in play. AZGA Arizona Golf Buzz: Mesa View Golf Course, quite literally, is the only game in town, in Bagdad, Arizona and it comes with no frills, as in, no head pro, no practice area, no dining facilities and no water in play.

Located north of Wickenburg, it is the most basic of golf courses, a nine-hole executive with one set of tees for both men and women at 1,671 yards. There are other tee markers for golfers who choose to play 18 and want to change the look somewhat on their second nine.

The course is flat, popular with senior golfers, plays to par 30 and, for 18 holes, is rated at 59 with a slope of 89.

Mesa View is situated on what once was a housing community. The houses were torn down, but the trees were preserved and those mature trees give the layout definition. It does have some nice views of mountains surrounding the area and offers medium-sized, undulating greens. The course layout includes three par-4 holes, the second, third and fourth, which play at 308, 309 and 266 yards.

The six par-3 holes range from 90 yards to 221 with the later being the finishing hole and the No. 1 handicap. Green fees are very affordable and Mesa View is a quick play. There’s a lot more to see and do in the area, such as a visit to Mesa Pass, an outdoor recreation area that is visible from the course, the Sanders Mesa Summit, Bagdad Tailings Dam and the Prescott National Forest.
