The Buzz: Designed by John Woodhall and Sam Wese, the Links at Queen Creek is a daily-fee course opened in 1994 in a private, gated community southeast of Phoenix. The desert-style layout isn’t particularly long or punishing, but has challenges that come from strategic grass and sand bunkers and five lakes, plus two running streams that wind through the layout. There are four sets of tees on the par-70 layout at 5,992, 5,173 and 4,467 yards. It is rated at 67.1 with a slope of 113 from the back tees.

Most challenging are the par-3 holes at 180, 202, 238 and 145 yards. In fact, the par-3 sixth at 202 is the signature hole with an undulating green surrounded by three bodies of water. Links at Queen Creek offers numerous birdie opportunities with four par-4 holes that measure less than 320 yards and another at 329 from the tips. The 10th, at 550 yards, is the longest hole on the course that underwent a renovation project in 2008. The layout offers up some nice views of the nearby San Tan and Superstition Mountains and has full practice facilities that include a driving range and putting and chipping areas. It also has a well-stocked pro shop managed by In Celebration of Golf.

After their round, golfers relax in The Grille at The Links and a patio area with an outdoor fireplace that is popular for sunset dining. The Grille is known for its Western barbecue and serves up great hamburgers. Overall, this is a player-friendly facility with a friendly staff that offers some of the most affordable rates in the area and is a popular venue for scramble tournaments.
